Dorothea Dix Engagement | Raleigh Wedding Photographer

Couple in field of daffodils

Dorothea Dix is one of my most favorite places. It’s set right in the heart of Raleigh and offers a gorgeous view of the skyline. Its just over an hour away from my Southern Pines studio but I still choose it time and time again to photograph in. When Katie and Evan asked me to choose the location for their engagement session, it was a no brainer. The park had a gorgeous display of daffodils and I thought it would be the perfect backdrop for all the Spring vibes. My first priority when photographing in any location is to respect the landscape, so we were careful not to trample any flowers ensuring they would be around for many others to enjoy. Getting to spend some time with these two before their Raleigh wedding was such a treat. I’m a hopeless romantic and turn teary eyed in the face of love. Katie and Evan were nothing short of absolutely precious together and it was so endearing to experience. As the session was winding down, Evan shared with me that Katies yellow dress was his favorite, it was the dress she was wearing the very first time he kissed her and I can’t help but think it was the perfect choice for these.
